| I'm currently looking at these two cities and wondered if anyone had any insight on what life is like in either place? When I move out I will want to learn some Korean so if you know of any classes in the area that would be good, or if you could tell me what sort of night life/activities there are available in these places. Thanks in advance! |

Cheonan is NOT the last stop on the subway line.
That said, Cheonan IS a huge transportation hub. They have the KTX, regular trains, subway and buses to take you anywhere in Korea you want to go.
Jeonju also has train and bus service, but to get to Seoul, you have to change trains.
Since I've only been in Jeonju a couple of times and in Cheonan countless times, I can really only comment on Cheonan:
Fairly big city. Has a good dentist and good hospital services. Has quite a few major supermarket chains (Emart, HomePlus, Galleria), quite a few Western restaurants (BK, McD, VIPS, Outback) and great public transportation. KTX to Seoul is less than 40 minutes.
I seem to remember that there were Korean classes offered at one of the unis there but I don't remember which...sorry about that! |

It's ok. It really depends on your desire to go to Seoul, anyway. If you're not that fussed about it then it doesn't matter.
Jeonju is a really nice city. It's small but there are some clubs in the university area, good bars, a book shop with foreign books, plenty of cafes and shops. They also have a traditional village that is popular with tourists. There are a couple of art galleries, too. It's also not too far (an hour or so, maybe?) from Gwangju which is a really cool place. Jeollado is really good for natural beauty spots, too if that's your thing. If it's not, then it should be. My biggest regret about my time in Jeollado is that I spent too much time running up to Seoul and not enough time exploring the beautiful places that exist there. |
