Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone has knowledge of the Seocho branch of SLP. I've done enough snooping to know that SLP has a nickname on these boards...but since it is a chain, locations can vary in quality and practice.
Any info would be welcome! Thanks in advance. |

With SLP there are some things that do NOT change = the contract.
Read it and weep. The devil is in the details and the details ARE in the contract.
Sign it at your own peril (or just look back through the contract sticky thread at how the SLP contracts are pulled apart. Anyone who can do simple math can figure out the why.
If 5 hours more per week on your feet in the classroom for the same money as the next guy doing 5 hours per week less are not an issue for you then sign on the dotted line.

Just a reminder from someone who worked (yes, very hard) at an excellent SLP for 3 years:
Hours are not the only thing that matter in a job. Your quality of life is gonna depend on the total experience...housing, rapport, student discipline, etc.
Short hours can seem mighty long if your boss is a micro-managing jerk, the kids junior menaces, if you are treated badly by the Korea staff or if your housing is a slum.
On the other hand, you might not notice a few extra hours in a well-run place where your boss gives recognition bonuses every quarter to both foreign and Korean staff, and you have a nice, problem-free place to come home to after work.
Potential SLP employees--> the contract is pretty standard, but there is HUGE variation from location to location. Get the scoop from a current or former teacher, everything else is hearsay. |
