|
|
| I am working at a GEPIK middle school, my contract will finish at the end of May. They want me to renew for 3 months, the reason it is for such a short time is funding. I am curious to if this is handled like other renewals?, go to the immigration office with the new contract and documents from the school? or do I need some other documents? |

The E-2 visa is only available for one year, so if they are going to have you renew for 3 months, they are going to have to give you a one year contract to make immi happy. However, since it is PS, maybe they will be able to have you extend your current e-2 by 3 months?
Don't accept your severance.. because if you do you won't get another one. But if you let it carry over, they will have to pay you severance based on 15 months of work. |

untrue.
You can extend your E2 for any duration between 1 day and 1 calendar year.
The process for a short extension is the same as that for a full year.
I suspect that if your contract ends in May and they want a 3 month extension that the GPOE (or your local education office) is trying to get everyone starting/completing at the term breaks.

| Thanks everyone, I did have a sneaking suspicion that was the case about getting all teachers om the same schedule in regards to contracts. |
