Hey guys I've got a whole bunch of skype chats this week with various recruiters, im open to either being employed by EPIK (or SMOE) aswell as privately by a hogwan. I'm willing to start teaching from around mid June so the earliest EPIK contract i can get would start september, the recruiter i spoke to today said in the meantime he will see if theres anything private available. Is it advisable to have several recruiters looking for jobs for me? Does it actually matter who you apply to EPIK through as all the applications end up in the same place?

Another quick question to add to this, one of my recruiters told me its usually 1 foreign teacher in each public school, and before the term starts theres an 11 day induction period. In this induction period do you get put together with other teachers in the area? I'm just thinking about how hard it will be to meet a decent bunch of people when i first get there. For my current teaching job in thailand i did my tefl with 24 other young people and it has made the whole thing so much better having friends around

Using multiple recruiters for hagwons is perfectly fine, and advisable, as you will be able to pick and choose from their offerings. As for EPIK, from what I understand they get angry if you apply multiple times. Pick one recruiter for public schools.

For public school, you will have an orientation before hand. You will meet lots of people there.

Thanks for the replies! Will be sure to pick one recruiter for EPIK... does it actually make a difference who you apply through seeing as all the applications end up in the same place? If so i guess i'll go through whoever seems most helpful.

Good to know about the orientation, do the governments tend to put foreign teachers in the same accomodation e.g the same appartment block etc or is everyone spread all over?

For orientation? They get put in the same place. Once you get to your city, you're spread out.
