Blew me away to see that performance on that stage with Letterman, Murray, and Philbin sitting there. I doubt popularity will increase to any magnitude that Korean entertainment agencies are hoping for, but I never thought I'd see the day. Similar to how I felt in the 90s when I saw a Sexy Mild Shampoo commercial with Meg Ryan dressed as a nun riding around on a bike.

I'm sure they did their best as they had a lot riding on the performance, but, as a fan of KPop, I basically couldn't get into it and was almost embarrased for them. They're almost like a circus sideshow.

KPop will never fly in America with it's diversified listening public. It's all cutesy vocals with bubblegum beats and dance moves.

Listening to the Wonder Grls sing the U.S. national anthem last year made me cringe as well.

In a world where Justin Bieber is popular, Sarah Silverman is considered funny, and Jimmy Fallon has a career...

Anything is possible.

I wonder if their agency kept them illegally housed in a business, like slaves? Seems some Korean groups management fled the country a few years ago after the city of NY cited them for it.

Compare the above singer with a truly great song and zero dance moves sitting and the wooden nervous looking girls feeling shameful in their short shorts I feel bad for them. It is not their fault they dress without class though- they are a product just like a race car girl... but on the bright side of things I am sure they got to wander all around New York sans crowds of fans crowding them... unlike Seoul - wow it was abit of a bother meeting them for their English lessons - I stated getting followed by the press too.

You know how some Koreans get the impression American men and women are sleep around crazy rich people - ala Sex in The City and the many sleep around feel good romances... yes that sad culture. Well, now a lot of Americans are going to think Korean ladies are pop tart Madonna-wanna-bes.... or am I wrong?

Too bad Yoon Do Hyun can not perform on Letterman...

Way too late. Ever hear of the phrase "me love you long time"? That and the fact that every major US city has rub and tug joints staffed by Asain girls.

That was the wondergirls that it happened too.

I don't think SNSD had that same treatment. For one, some of the members are American. Management is going to tell Jessica and Tiffany they can't walk around in their own country?

Honestly I would not be at all surprised.

Don't you agree that it shouldn't matter what country someone is from?

there life span is very short. they are all getting older very fast for this genre.
I guess for SM entertainment they are using GG to learn the ropes in USA
set the inroads for future talent to get on the fast track.

Appearing on Letterman doesn't mean much, it's late night. 90% of teenagers don't watch letterman.
Frankly the girls out there looked like Las Vegas strippers more than singers.
I felt sorry for them, they tried very hard. I mean at least in vegas the girls take their clothes off, so really what are viewers getting with GG? little girls all dressed up trying to be sexy with no attitude to back it up.
teddy riley is washed up also. last smash hit he had was in 1990 with michael jackson. different era back then. Let the boys out? seriously...

my wife who is Korean said to me when we watched Letterman
"how much do you think SM paid to get them on Letterman"?
I just looked at her and said.. "ummmm Nothing" guest don't pay to be on talk shows, the talk shows pay to have them on"
she replied: why would Letterman pay for a foreign band who no one in America has ever heard of there must be thousands of bands in America wanting to be on there?
I was speechless. made me think. did SM pay something to get on live with Kelly and Letterman?, and wasn't it funny that Regis was there on Letterman the same day and then GG are going on Live with Kelly.

has Regis found a new job? hahahahaha

dude, they work for SM. they are slaves, they are not allowed to date. they are not allowed to gain weight, they must be picked up on time, told when to sleep, told what to do etc. they act like good little girls,
when OPPA the manager says , BALLI BALLI, snap snap, they all reply. NEE OPPA.

welcome to SM

all the money goes to SM. it's a business for them. using singers to gain wealth. in return the girls can be famous. LOL
I'd be surprised if those girls make 1 million dollars each after they are finished.

So, you are implying that all 9 girls slept and bathed in an office room?
Please. SNSD are not the Wonder Girls. Is one thing to threaten a group of Korean girls who barely speak English and "scare" them with stories about evil NYC and how you shouldn't go outside.

Its another thing to say the same thing to girls who lived in the US, are US citizens, and speak better English than any of the managers and staff.

Realistically, those girls probably stayed in a pretty nice hotel. They practiced their routine, did their thing on Letterman and Live with Kelly, and went home. Business as usual.

I have a very hard time believing, especially with Tiffany's personality, that the SNSD would be bullied and intimidated like the Wonder Girls were.

Who knows, it might appeal to teenage girls (which, I'm guessing, is the target demographic by the looks of the CD cover that I've seen).

Sure, the vast majority of the audience of the two American TV shows are middle-aged, but that's probably the point.

I'm guessing their management was killing two birds with one stone by getting them booked on those two shows. They were trying to get parents to accept them {Notice how they didn't have Snoop Dogg performing with them (I heard he does something on that song in the CD)--They wouldn't want mom and dad to think these are bad girls, would they?} and make kids, most of which like to believe they are much more mature and sophisticated than they really are, think they are getting adult-oriented music.

It's not unlike the strategy that Justin Bieber's management took when they got him booked on late night talk shows. If you've seen any of those interviews, it's obvious that he goes out of his way to sound as if he has the emotional maturity of a 12 year-old. By doing so, he appeals to young girls and convinces their parents that he's nonthreatening.
