So I've searched this board for ice hockey topics and understand there are SOME options out there to play ice hockey. It at least exists out there
Just wondering if anyone has some update information on the following:
- Where can you play ice hockey? What does it cost? Is it a league? Who can join?
Also:
- Can you get equipment in Korea or should I bring my own?
I'll be in Korea this September in the Seongnam-Si area. I play division 2 in a Vancouver recreational beer league.
Cheers! |

There is a league in BundangGu, Seongnam. There is an A and a B league. Probably the B league would be good for you, but it's hard to tell from your info. Befriend RMT Hockey on facebook for more info.
Oh yeah, bring your own equipment. It's expensive in Korea, but easy to get if you want to spend your money. |

There are teams such as Seoul Chiefs that play near Seoul and Geckos as well. Both have web site and they always welcome players. |

http://www.chiefshockeykorea.blogspot.com wer'e always looking for new players who want to play some shinny. Ajgeddes mentioned the Bundang league which is in your neighbourhood whereas The Chiefs are in Seoul so given the location you're going to be living in the Bundang league would probably be an option for you. |

Thanks Pie.
Anybody play in Bundang and can PM me?
Anybody know where to get equipment and what it all costs?
I'd hate to lug my pants over there and find out they only cost $50-100 to buy. |

Bring your gear Fraser. It's quite a bit more expensive over here. |

I want to play hockey but haven't been able to get in touch with anyone from the chiefs or geckos. Does anyone know how to get in contact with them, or with anyone else who plays in Seoul? I live in Kondae, so playing at Korea uni or olympic park would be easier than mokdong, but mokdong is still feasible for me. Also, is there any outdoor (free) ball hockey that goes on? I wouldn't mind getting on that as well. I'm dying to play. |

To anyone who might be interested in this thread, I ended up getting in contact with the Chiefs. They play from 9-11 PM on Wednesdays and 10-12 AM on Sundays. Exit 3, Omokgyo station, just get out and walk straight, you can't miss the rink. Always looking for players, especially on Wednesday nights. They play full equipment, minus shoulderpads. At 15k won a time, it's not a bad deal at all- the price of two pints. |
