I booked a trip that will include a couple days in bohol followed by a couple days in Boracay.
We booked a place called Chill-Out Guesthouse on Alona Beach, anyone heard of it?

Also, thinking of spending one day just chillin in Alona Beach area and one day doing a tour of Chocolate Hills, Loboc river cruise, etc.

Is it best just to book a Tour that includes the entrance fees to the places, or just hire a car for a flat rate for 8 hrs and go where we want?

Or..is renting a motorbike/scooter and drive to all the sites on our own a good idea? As I remember drivers in the PHils can be a bit crazy.

Any other advice is welcome, thanks!

Hiring a car is the EASIEST way to do it and gives you the most flexibility.
Start when you want, leave when you want, stop when/where you want.
Lugod car rental is decent for a car with driver. 8, 10 or 12 hours. the only difference is the gas and a meal or 2 for the driver.

Entry prices are not that steep that you need to worry. Just have a pocket full of p100 notes and you are good.

Renting a motor bike is not difficult (there are a couple of guys that hand out down by alona Kew that rent bikes for the day. Do be aware that unless you have an IDP, ASEAN D/L or Philippine D/L you will be driving illegally (only an issue if anything happens and will help to compound your misery in the event of a problem).

Never heard of that particular guest house but there has been (is) lots of redevelopment going on down there (haven't been there since last year) so no worry. You are only there for 2 nights.

I was in Alona Beach in July last year and I was HUGELY disappointed. The place is so small and rather pricey for something not that great. It's good for diving and the small beachfront area is OK but well, I was regretting not hitting another beach really fast.

If I am in Cebu Island again, I'd try Moalboal or Bantayan or Malapasqua islands. Alona Beach gets a HUGE thumbs down from me.

I stayed at two places and well, the view of the beach was OK and the restaurants were, too.

Many wonder why the Chocolate Hills are being promoted as a tourist destination. I didn't bother going there because there isn't much to to see.

Western Cebu island and Negros were rocked by a series of 6.8 magnitude quakes last week and Moalboal is toast (as is just about everything else within 50km of the epicenter which was about 20km west of Moalboal in the channel between the 2 islands).

Alona is a nice 2-day visit before hitting Boracay (even for non-divers).
