|
|
Hi
I finsh my contract in Mayand wouldn't mind staying another year but I'm desperate for a decent break. what is the story with transfering an E2 visa to another company? My hope is that if I finished on 1st of May, i could organise a new job that starts later in the month and take an overseas holiday in the time between. is this at all possible? what is the max' time I could stay away for? If no, any other suggestions other than starting from scratch?
Thanks |

To transfer to a new employer you must do it before your ARC expires.
There can be a gap of up to 30 days between contracts.
If you don't get new employment arranged you can switch to a D10 (again before your ARC expires).
It will delay your departure by up to 2 weeks (processing time for a new ARC (D10 instead of E2)) but will give you up to 6 months to find a new employer and transfer your visa to them (switch back to E2) without the need for a new visa (and new CBC/degree copy).

The D10 is a 6-month visa. If you don't find a job and switch back before it expires then you are on your way home.

ALL registered (have an ARC) foreigners are entitled to leave and return during their allowed period of stay.
The ONLY exception are F5 (permanent residents). Since their ARC never expires they are limited to 2 years (consecutively) out of the country.
