I want to mail a violin back to thge USA. I know there's some kind of change in policy for mailing musical instriments. I'd carry it in with me on the plane but I'm already carrying another. I heard you maybe have to list the materials of the violins when you send it or some such stuff. I'm also considering mailing a guitar back if its not too expensive.
I'd love some feedback. Anybody have experience with this?
Thank You! |

I mailed a Kurzweiler electronic keyboard to the USA, but it was quite expensive, not to mention the price of a suitable case. I imagine a guitar would be lighter and cheaper. |

Not exactly applicable, but a friend flew here Air Canada with his banjo, and when he arrived it had been hacked-open... LITERALLY. The agents, probably checking for drugs, used what appeared to be a crow bar (there were marks where they just hacked into the wood) to rip it in two and send it on its way. |

That's why it's recommended to use cases with a TSA lock for instruments (although I doubt that would matter here). |

It wasn't the case that was hacked open. It was the instrument itself. |

Well, that's pure negligence. What did your friend do? |
