|
|
I'm looking into a public school job for the fall teaching at an elementary school.
I'm struggling weather or not to apply with SMOE or GEPIK. I don't HAVE to be in Seoul, but I definitely DO NOT want to end up in the boonies, which is a the risk if I apply with GEPIK.
How competitive is SMOE? I have a journalism degree and I'll have a year's teaching experience in Korea with a 120-hour TESOL cert.
Thanks for your help! |

I'm in the process of applying as well. As far as I know, you have a preference of three locations on the application form. I'm going to put Seoul, Incheon, Busan as choices. As long as you get in quick, you have a better chance of getting where you want. I think you can also apply to both at the same time, though correct me if i'm wrong. |

Hmmm.....I heard they would throw out your application if you applied to more than one. But I'm not 100 percent sure. |

SMOE and GEPIK are two separate organizations so you can apply to both and be ok. |

as for gepik, just find out where the school is when you apply. then you can determine if you are ok with the location. depending on location, gepik might even be better than smoe, as seoul is huge in itself. |

this is assuming of course, you are applying directly to each gepik school by yourself or through a recruiter. |

I agree with the poster that said go for both.
Both are pretty good and you can accept or decline any offer that is given to you.
GEPIK is back! I heard they had their funding come through. |
