|
|
I've looked all over for this info + the search function isn't working, so sorry for asking something that's already been answered.
I'm confused about the process for degree apostille. I have my original (from an American uni) here with me in Korea. Where can I get the initial notarization? And is a state level apostille fine or do I have to send it to the State Department?
Thanks for any info. |

| Thanks for the info. Do you have any idea how I'm supposed to get the initial notary here in Seoul? |

Well I pretty much think very few American notaries work here in Korea. Different laws and such. BUT maybe hmmm the American Embassy. OR sending the papers to a notary in your home state. |

You need a state level apostille on a copy of your degree. The department of state will not apostille a degree. A State will apostille your degree if it has been notarized by a public notary from that particular state. The state does not require that the degree is from their state only that the public notary is from their state.
So send you degree and a copy to a friend in the USA where they have the secretary of state has walk-in service. Have your friend go to a public notary and get your degree copy notarized about 5 dollars. Next have your friend go to the secretary of state's office walk-in service and they will apostille it for 5 or 10 dollars. |

| Great, thanks for the info. I just assumed having someone else notarize the degree wouldn't fly with immigration since it'd have someone else's signature on it. |
