Hello,

I recently went through all the steps to get my E2 visa. However, I was on a D-4 visa for 8 months and had an ARC, so when I switched over I didn't have to leave the country nor was I required to get a health check to get the E2 visa.

Now that I've gone back and forth to immigration more times than I would have liked, my company is saying that they need copies of the FBI CRC apostilled, as well as the health check, which I didn't need in the first place.

They say it's because the ministry of education requires these documents for all new E2 visa holders, or they will get some kind of fine. My only problem with this is the fact that I've already done so much leg work to get my visa while the company nearly botched it by not giving me the right paper work, or too much paper work. They really didn't know what was going on with the visa situation.

So the question is, is there really a rule with the ministry of education that every hagwon needs to submit copies of said documents? And if so, would they have handled it on their own if I had come in from outside the country?

If you had come from outside the country you would have needed to submit them as part of the visa process.

I am surprised that Kimmi let you switch visa class to an E2 without submitting them or having them on file.

Yes, it IS a MOE requirement (as of Feb. 1, 2012). Get them or lose your permission to teach (and your job).

Thank you for the clarification.

I did turn in everything except the health check. I just assumed the reason I could do the transfer in country was because I already had a registration number.

I will get the health check, but I hope the company will lend a helping hand...with the payment that is.

You will need to go back to Kimmi to get copies of your CBC and degree made (300 won each).

^ Correct. I went to Kimmi this week to get copies of my CBC and apostilled degree. The lady printed them off in one minute. No problem whatsoever.
