in order to save money, i've decided to stay in korea for my summer vacation. i want to go to samcheok. i heard there were some nice beaches there.
anyone travel/live there before and have any advice or tips on samcheok? where to go, where to avoid?

I've taken the train there from Seoul for the weekend. The caves there are especially nice and worth a visit. I have a couple of photos of the area in my book on Lemon's photo page. |

If you go to Samcheok, be sure to visit the Phallus Park. Carved wooden sculpture of all manner of phalli.
Maybe this can be bumped to the "new" travel thread?  |

If you get tired of Samcheok I would suggest a trip to nearby Donghae or Gangnueng, lots of great beaches, an Emart and plenty of caves and folk areas to visit. In Donghae there are also a fair number of Russian restuarants that are pretty good.
I actually like Donghae much better than Samcheok
