The main/big foreign food market in Itaewon has about 10 tubs left of the fat free stuff. I bought the last 2 tubs of the 2%, but I wanted to let you know that you'll find some if you have a hankering. The expiry dates were around March 9th or 10th. Please let the cashiers know that you'd like them to stock this regularly!

Awesome. I'm not back in Korea yet, but that was one of the foods I missed most while living there. Hopefully they'll continue to carry it, although I don't really plan on going to Itaewon on a weekly basis just to get cottage cheese.

You could buy a lot of it and freeze most of it. That's what I'm planning to do, assuming they have enough in stock.

@cdinkorea: It doesn't freeze well unless you plan on baking with it.

@nathanrutledge: I didn't know that. I've been having friends pick it up for me once in a while from the base, but I was excited about something that I haven't seen, yet love, and wanted to share the info. None of my friends knew where to get the stuff, either.

Now I have 2 places.

For me, finding cottage cheese WAS a big deal. It's one of my favorite breakfasts, with black pepper and some bran crisps.

I make my own paneer and ricotta-style farmer's cheese, but there's always somethings slightly off when I make cottage cheese. I really do prefer the store-bought stuff. It also lasts longer than a day and a half, when it comes to tasting right. It's likely the ton of preservatives, but I love the stuff. Anyway, enjoy! Now there are 2 places in which to buy it.

I checked out the Yongsan E-mart today with the hubby. There was no cottage cheese, but we did see ricotta. Ah well... Give a heads up if anyone sees it there again. For now, I'll stick with Itaewon and friends on base.
