With it starting to get hot, I'm starting to drink like a fish, and spending 2 chun on a bottle of pop or 3 on 2 bottles of orange juice every other day is starting to wear a bit thin already. To make things worse, DMZ recently doubled in price at Lotte Mart. I'm not usually a fan of water on it's own, this is more for the gym.

What I want to know is, is there such a thing as squash or cordial out here? I'm not talking about those 1.5L bottles of ready made "squash" for 2,500W, I'm talking "buy a litre of concentrate and add water to make 10L", that kind of thing. Readily available? What's the Korean for it?

If you like tart drinks, you can buy fruit-flavored vinegar drink mix... It's really popular for dieting and for energy, as vinegar is said to open blood vessels and boost your energy level~~

You can buy 홍초 (hong- cho - red vinegar) (cheaper and more common)
(looks like this: http://cfile26.uf.tistory.com/image/151988134B61A6AC53808E)

or 흑초 (heuk-cho - black vinegar) (more expensive, more full-bodied)
(looks like this: http://pimage.design.co.kr/cms/contents/direct/info_id/49328/1253496849142.jpg)

You buy a liter or set of liters, and add water (as much as you want, less water for a more intense and tart flavor, or more water for a lighter and more refreshing flavor (usually 1:10 ratio)) Common flavors are blueberry, pomegranate, raspberry, and mixed berry~ Just make sure you don't buy a big liter with a picture of a girl on it... That one is already diluted. The undiluted will always come in the bottles shown above~

I bought regular, ol' squash (no vinegar) for the first time last week. I was in E-Mart and saw a 500ml bottle of bokbunja, and when I looked at the back of the label it showed that you were supposed to dilute it with water. Tastes good and lasted me several days. It's in the section with all the sodas and looks just like a bottle of fruit juice. Just look for bokbunja in the non-alcoholic section and you should find it. Unfortunately, that's the only flavor I've found so far.

Be careful, though~ bokbunja is also a name of a raspberry liqueur. ^.~

Here's me, thinking I was going to find someone to play the game of squash with. What a disappointment.
