|
|
So I'm trying to find this bar. Does anyone know the exact directions or address? I've been there once, like three months ago. Cant' find anything online except a random blog post. No map.
The most generic name doesn't help either. I've googled everything under the sun, I think. Even have my Korean boyfriend on the case... nada. |

It's an unfortunate name for newcomers. The place doesn't actually serve gopchang jeongol, but every Korean I've brought there resisted every step of the way, telling me it's not what I think it is. I even recall telling one or two people not to go there because of the same reason. |

Care to elaborate your experience for people that have never been nor heard of the place?
Why did the Koreans resist? They hate old Korean music? Or is it the interior environment? Or the people that go there?
I would like to know more about it. It seems interesting. |

They don't want to eat gopchang jeongol. Something that is not served in Gopchang Jeongol.
Every Korean I've brought there, once they made it in, fell in love with the place and sang along with all the songs. |

Ah, I get it know. They didn't want to go at first, but once you got them there they really liked it. Cool. I'll have to check it out. Would you say its a good place to take a Korean date? |

I don't like gopjang, but I do love those old-school bars that play authentic Trot (any bar in Korea that doesn't play K-pop, rap or US teen-rock is refreshing to me).
People are just getting good 'n' drunk listening to good music with feeling and not paying a weeks wages for it. |

Absolutely. Every Korean subconsciously knows the music they play, and will probably be extremely impressed at your choice. |

They don't play trot. It's more focused on Korea's '60s/'70s psychedelic rock and folk music, as well as disco late at night when the place gets really wild. |

Does this place still exist? Is anyone good at explaining how to get there? I tried using some directions that I found online but no luck. |

Walk out of hongdae station exit 8 then go immediately right, walk for about 100 meters until you get a family mart and small roundabout, turn left here and walk until you get to another small roundabout, turn right here. This will bring you onto a long straight slightly uphill street with lots of coffee shops and small clothing shops. Staying on the left side of the road, walk almost to the end of the street and the bar is on your left just as the road rises up to a three way junction. It's downstairs in the basement
Hope this helps |
