When I was in my first year of university, I was at a party playing poker when the police came when the music was too loud. We were playing poker, and they saw this and arrested everybody for "underage gambling." When we went to court, the judge laughed and threw it out. There was no record on my state check, but it did come up on my FBI check, which I had to submit yesterday.

I didn't think this would be a problem because it is, by no stretch of the imagination, serious. However, when I submitted it, the woman working there told me she had to ask her boss about it. He wasn't there and I asked to talk to him. I waited for more than four hours, but he never came. She told me to go home and they would contact me within two weeks. She also told me that my chances were "50/50" to get my visa renewed.

I was supposed to go to India today, but now I canceled my trip because I'm so worried about my visa and I definitely wouldn't be able to enjoy the experience with this on my mind. I have been here for over eight years and at the same school for five years. I would be absolutely devastated if my visa was denied.

Has anyone else had this experience or do you have any advice on what I could do to persuade them to get my visa renewed. I have nothing to do now for two weeks but sit around and stress about this. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
