Hi there, I may have to do a visa run for the first time in my 7 years working in Korea. I notice that a few people have asked for updates via the sticky, but no one seems to have noticed...and google searches turn up only information that is quite dated (2010 or earlier.)
I am not sure if this gap is because nothing has changed, or because no-one is doing these visa runs anymore.
In the interest of helping those of us who are contemplating a visa run in the near future, can people chime in if there is any new information?
For myself, all documents have been sent to Korea. Visa number should be issued with no trouble. Visa processing will take about a week in Toronto, and I will already be getting a late start to the semester...so I am hoping to save time by being in Korea and then zipping over to Japan as soon as I get the number.
Any info will be appreciated. |

The visa runs to Osaka or Fukuoka are the same as they have been since 2006. NOTHING has changed (other than the price of a visa). I can't confirm but I have been told that they are now 12000 yen.

I went on the visa run to Fukuoka last September and it's still the simple process, leave Korea on the first flight then head straight to the consulate, hand in your completed form, passport and fee (it's around 12000 yen for Brits, maybe more or less for others.) WARNING: They only take cash and finding a cash machine for non-Japanese cards is a nightmare, I learnt the hard way.
Return to the consulate the next day and collect your passport with a nice new visa inside and then return to Korea. |
