this might be a dumb question..
so i left korea after a brief stint and think i might return. im not gonna put down that work exp as I quit so im wondering if I should worry about the visa/stamp in my passport? should I just rip it out or just not worry about it? |

you could but... defacing a passport makes it invalid. You cannot remove pages, erase, mark out, or anything.
did you do a midnight run or leave properly?
if you did a run then it will make it difficult to get another E2 visa, if you left properly then it doesn't matter that you have a previous visa. |

that should have canceled my visa and I should be able to get another one right? |

If you left on good terms then it will be fine, if you just left without warning then issues might arise, how long ago did you leave?
If you want to return as a tourist you should be ok either way. Another E2 tricky. |

I just left without telling anyone. Turned in my ARC card at Korean Immigration at the airport.
From my understanding that cancels your visa and/which would allow you to get another one if you choose so.
Anyone have experience with this?
Dont people that pull midnight runs do this all the time? ie Quit their job, leave Korea / turn in ARC card to cancel their visa and return and get a new job / visa? |

I thought the same thing, I left a previous school (gave my notice and worked until a replacement was found), give my ARC into immigration and returned home for a month. Then when I returned there was an issue as my school hadn't cancelled my visa. Therefore it may not be cancelled in depends if your school cancelled it.
My friend did a similar thing, was told they could not return to Korea for 6 months.
People don't pull the midnight run and then get a new role/visa, as immigration has a record of your previous employment and if you left owing your school money you might have an issue. I depends if you had a good reason to leave, and evidence?

If you turn in your ARC card at the airport, that should cancel your visa, according to immigration regulations.
Even if your visa was not canceled, then as long as the visa has expired, you should be fine.
The only problem you can run into is if you left owing the school money.. i.e. didn't reimburse them for the flight as per your contract. They can report this to immigration and that can give you problems trying to get another E2. But.. immigration knows that there are numerous crappy and unscrupulous hakwons out there and I think they really don't care. If a school is willing to hire you, they'll give you an e-2. |
