Any deal with North Korea has, and will always, leave a lot to desire. I fail to see how this is a political win, are Americans really clamoring to give food aid to North Korea? |

I think the Chinese want this deal to work and that is what is important. They have seen Kim Jung Il's rhetoric and actions lead to a buildup of U.S forces in the region and also Japan has upgraded and enlarged it's military. A new group leaders are taking over in China and they want calm in the region. They seem to also want North Korea to modernize it's economy. The Chinese have much more power in the North now, sending more advisors and the new guy has been spending a lot of time in Beijing. |
