Wow... that was awesome. But awesome in one of those disturbing circus nightmare, Asians just don't get it do they, I'm definitely sending this to some of my friends, kind of ways.
They may as well have dressed them in monkey costumes. |

How would you guys react to Koreans coming to your country and critiquing its culture, morals, ethics and customs? Just take it for what it is. There were no burning crosses. Enjoy the differences. |

I disagree. If Koreans were treated in a similar way on Canadian or American TV, you'd hear of protests in Seoul, and we'd be told not walk near those protests. |

The United States is still producing blackface and offensive black stereotypical programs. Fred Armesan, Robert Downey Jr., Angelina Jolie, have all done blackface in the past few years, while the Wayans brothers did the reverse with their movie "White Chicks" (along with plenty of sexism in it, too).
Much of Tyler Perry's work is based on the Mammy character and Spike Lee has referred to it as "coonery and buffoonery." The Cleveland Show on Fox is just a long series of racist stereotypes.
Koreans don't have ANY of that baggage. Are their portrayals of blacks any more or less offensive than those of other races? Hardly. They do portrayals of Japanese and Chinese which I would consider way more offensive. Also, the big noses of Westerners in political cartoons, the "shalla shalla" sound of English... Plenty of other stereotypes going on that should be considered equally as offensive considering that Koreans have no baggage of importing an entire continent of people, putting them in chains, and destroying their culture for some 250 years.
Finally, there are plenty of racist stereotypes of Asians in the US. Just in the past ten years, you have "I Now Pronounce you Chuck and Larry, Balls of Fury, Norbit, and my personal favorite, David Carradine in Crank: High Voltage," all movies where non asians have played asians in rather offensive and mocking manners. None of which have triggered "protests in Seoul [that] we'd be told not [to] walk near."
Long story short, humans are racists and Koreans don't have the same stigma/baggage as Americans so don't try to impose your social values on them. |

That's embarrassing and revolting. Someone should really let the people in charge know how bad that is. |

Poor taste and not funny. But I wouldn't call it racist. |

That vid is definitely in poor taste, and racist. Just 'cause they're yucking it up in a light-hearted way doesn't cancel out the fact that they're obviously having a laugh at (not with) black people's racial characteristics.
As pointed out, turn it around with foreigners squinting their eyes, and suddenly this type of skit doesn't seem so funny anymore to Korean people.
Seriously, Korea, global leader for the 21st century? |

This is NOT good. I am not in Korea at the moment, but there has been a slight furor over here about a Kpop songwriters racist ranting outburst on twitter. (She said black people should be exterminated).
Koreans have a dreadful reputation for being racist and things like this don't help. |

That's interesting. A lot of posters have been saying there would be no reaction to what she wrote. |

Yeah, I'm pretty sure most people would not enjoy something in a similar vein at all, not with the burden of pride, taking oneself too seriously, nationalism and all the rest of it. Yet there would be lots to make fun of! -- but only if people were more inclined to laugh at themselves being made fun of in such a way, which too many people certainly are not. Then again, it seems to me we are in an era of being too easily offended as well, and too many people are quick to take stuff too seriously for some reason, when a lot of it is just nonsense. |
