I was browsing the UK forums and came across a rather scary thread. Take a look.

35 years of inflation and TEFL jobs pay �7 an hour there, the same rate as back in 1975!

And for that �7 you need a CELTA!

That is effectively an 80% fall in wages. Surprised

The usual pay is around 25 quid an hour like in this job

I can't believe anyone would work for 7 quid.

TEFL generally doesn't pay that well in the UK because of the high rate of taxation and the places where schools usually are being expensive places to live. The exception is summer school where you get board and lodgings paid for so you can pretty much save your whole salary.
