I remember seeing a few years ago my coworkers had programs on their PCs that they could use to send text messages for free. Is there an app for Android that does this too? I don't mean Kakao, but a regular old SMS text message app.

Are you looking to text Korean numbers or US numbers?

I use Heywire to text US numbers on my android tablet. I haven't needed or looked for one to text Korean numbers.

have you tried using skype? it's not free, but it's not too expensive either... for your friends without smartphones, it's going to be tough to do anything for free, unfortunately.
