By credit card I mean one from their native country.
I noticed something odd when trying to withdraw 1000000won. I think this is a new option
that I havent oticed before. Dont flame me if its a simple thing that Im not getting.
During the process it gives two options to choose:
Charge 1000000won plus 3000won fee to your account or
Charge $930 to your account
I selected the latter. Is there a different exchange rate between the two?
Thanks |

Is that what it said verbatim? I don't quite understand what the options are from what you've written. But looks like it's giving you the option of won or dollars...Usually, I think you want to choose the local currency. Yeah...I think it is an exchange rate thing.
I know you will be charged a fee to withdraw US funds from a local bank here.
I've withdrawn money from my US account using my US debit card on a Hana Bank ATM. I was charged about US$11 for the transaction. But the only option was for an advance, which is probably why it was so expensive.
Haven't tried withdrawing from my US account via KEB.
But, as long as you got money... |

Yeah its weird.
Here is a cell phone pic I took

I was taking out 1,000,000won and this option popped up
One side of the screen said : Charge 1000000won plus 3000won fee to your account
The other side said : Charge $930 to your account
This is with a Canadian bank's Mastercard
Im aware about there being a service fee, what Im concerned about is getting the best exchange rate |

Yeah, it happened to me at ICN on arrival when I used an overseas ATM card to withdraw from an overseas non-won account. I think what they're asking in other words is:
Do you want US (Korean Bank) to make the exchange conversion from non-Won to Won OR do you want YOUR overseas bank to make the exchange conversion.
It was pretty clear to me what was being asked, but what wasn't clear was which bank would give the better rate, which is all I cared about. I don't remember which one I chose, but then another message popped up saying "Sorry, you can't choose that one. Do you want to choose the other one?"
It was with a great sense of my own importance to the process that I pushed "Yes"- and the cash was spit out.
At the time I was just happy to get the cash, and I knew I had made the "right" choice. |

| I've never seen that. I use a Canadian credit card too. When I take out the cash, it just asks me if I agree to the fee? Usually charges me 3000 won maybe? Then my bank at home charges me 5 bucks. So, a little stiff for the dang cash advances. lol |

stiff indeed, also as you can see in the pic I took, it doesnt say which option gives the best exchange rate. You can see the left and right options to choose from at the bottom
