I hate all things Apple and just peeked in here looking for an opportunity to say that. |

So, I'm planning on moving from Korea to Canada later this year.
I have a 27" iMac that I bought about a year ago - and really enjoy.
I want to take it with me, but am wrestling with ways to bring it overseas safely. I've also thought about just selling it here in Korea, and picking up a new one there.
Any thoughts? |

I thought you already had moved? I'd sell it. People pay stupid prices for used mac stuff here. |

You could take it on the plane if you still have the enormous box for the thing. It'd probably be cheaper than shipping it. And MUCH safer.
My girlfriend was in a similar position last year. Had a 27" iMac she loved, but sold it (via here, actually). She had the maxed out 27" iMac from 2010, and took a 1,000,000 won hit to sell it. Probably could've sold it for much higher, but whatever, she's a nice person.

swampy, nope, still here. When I move, I'll probably stop posting on here.
Gnaw, yup, still have the box. I'm tempted to do the plane thing. Shipping would be way too much I'm guessing.
I'm wondering if there's a way to better ensure safety when transporting by plane? |

Did you happen to land any work back home yet, cap?
A co-worker of mine is leaving to do his Ph.D. at a state univ. in the USA, and getting it paid for (he's got to teach at the univ., though). His MA was online, which goes to show that the comments a lot of people make about online degrees being crap are bogus.
Another teacher here is leaving for his Ph.D at another location. He's been posting on Dave's for nearly a decade now. |

Yup, already have a few job offers....just nailing down specifics.
Planning on moving ahead of my family. Figured is take some clothes and my comp... And then the rest can be slowly shipped over or brought when more ppl are coming.
My job will be in the design field, so having my tab and comp are a must.
I too have baud heading to the US to do is Phd...along with his wife.
Must be this Year's trend. |

We're losing 3 teachers at our uni now. All are returning to the USA.
2 doing Ph.D's, and the other, I haven't heard.
I know ridiculous living cost increases in Korea in recent years, along with worsening contracts at our school have been discussed by some. |
