I used to know someone who lived there, and according to him, Jincheon sucks. It's a small town with very poor public transit (by Korean standards). Most of the town's foreign English teachers live in the same building. If you like drinking, you should fit in well with Jincheon's foreigner community. According to my friend, there isn't much to do in Jincheon besides drinking.
Jincheon is a 2 hour bus ride to Nambu Terminal in Seoul; that is, if traffic is good, and it often isn't. The last bus from Seoul to Jincheon leaves at 9 or 9:30 PM or something like that, so you won't be staying out late in Seoul unless you spend the night there.
Jincheon is close to Cheongju and Cheonan if you need (small) city conveniences without dealing with the hassle of going to Seoul. However, be prepared to deal with a hassle when it comes to public transit.
As far as I can tell, Jincheon has no direct public transit access to Daejeon.
If you end up moving to Jincheon, plan on getting a car or scooter to make you life easier transportation-wise. |
