Anyone know what I could expect for around $80,000 U.S.? I know that would barely get me a 1 bedroom most places in Seoul, but I'm thinking about looking in Bundang, Suwon and Anyang. |

forget chunsae.
you wont get anything for under 100million chunsae except an offictel.
for a villa I think about 120 is possible in good area.
if you are happy to venture out to not so good area, then 80-100 is possible.
you know, living above a kalbi restaurant or something on some narrow busy street full of bars and chicken hofs |

I wouldn't discount officetels completely. Some officetels are better quality than apartments, even if they are a studio apartment. I much prefer the officetel that I live in now compared to the apartment I used to have. |

Officetels tend to have higher utility bills though. But they definitely make better use of space depending on the developer (ones built by larger ones better than the others). Personally I think apartments are overrated.
A one-room might be doable for $80k in Bundang though. A one-room is basically a studio apartment...a glorified shoebox of sorts. Look for at least 8-10 pyeong which is about 290-360 sqft. Parking could be a problem for these places though. |

You can find plenty for that amount. I don't know what fosterman is talking about. Jeonsae for officetels run higher than villas. |

Out here in Pocheon , about 40 km from Nowon.
We pay 90 million for our chonsae on a three bedroom apt..
For myself , and my family I had to move this far away.
I was in Uijeongbu , there I had a choice of 130 million chonsae, or
50 million key money and about 450,000/month.
My wife looked at a couple of Villas for around 70~80 million chonsae
in Eiujeongbu. ( just 20 min from Nowon)
Just my two cents , from the Northern Burbs / Country . |

OP you are asking the wrong people. Go see a real estate agent in the area you want to live. They can answer all your questions. |

Afraid not, OP.
Certainly not in Bundang, and I could speak from experience about Anyang, having lived in a few different places in Pyeongchon.
Cheonsae on a 33-pyeong apartment will set you back about 230,000,000 outside of Pyeongchon, and around 300,000,000 in the nice area between Pyeongchon and Beomgye.
Villas, if you could find one, could be had for quite cheaper, around 130,000,000 or so. Or at least that was the price a couple years ago.
In your range you'd be looking at an officetel. 5 years ago cheonsae on a one-room by Pyeongchon Station was 80,000,000, though I imagine the price is up. |
