|

Immigration extended my visa until March 28, 2013 with a new school, a public. My former school was a hogwan. I had re-signed with the hogwan after my ARC expired on February 28th. However, the hogwan isn't doing well financially, so my former boss showed me a copy of the school's financial statement. The financial statement shcwed 29 million in revenue and 31 million in expenses. This was after I re-signed the contract. On February 29th, I signed a new contract with a public school. I took my new public school contract to immigration. They wrote a new expiration date on the back of my ARC and the public school's address. Does this mean that immigration approved my new contract with the public school? My former boss keeps telling me that I am still employed with the hogwan not the new school.

You filled out a form, provided the required paperwork and paid your fee at Immigration and then they wrote your new employer and new expiration date on the back of your ARC ... is that correct?
If so, you are all set. You are now legally free from your old school and working at your new school in the eyes of Immigration.
You may have financial obligations to your old school (for example: repayment of airfare for a trip home, 2nd year signing bonus, damages of some kind) but you no longer work there. |

Thank you for your reply, ontheway. Last night, I found out that my former boss called the new school and told them that it was illegal for me to be working for them. This is incorrect information. Immigration already transferred my Visa to the new school. What can I do to get her to stop this harassment? |

This sounds more like something your new school needs to deal with. They probably know the laws better or can get help. All they need to do is inform the old school that your passport has either a change of location stamp (it does, doesn't it?) or that a new visa stamp has been added to your passport (it has, hasn't it?). After 3 rounds of that, next, I would contact the police and file a harassment complaint (if I were the school, which you and I aren't).
Again, this is all advice you can pass on to the school. It's not really your problem. You are not the one directly being harassed. |

Just to be safe, check that your old school paid their pension contributions. If they were hurting for money, they may have cut some corners. If they're going out of business soon, they you should check it out right away while the pension office still has a chance of getting that money from them. |

For future reference, when you leave a job, don't tell them where you're going next. If you hadn't told them where you were transferring to, they'd have no way to find out. |

If you went to Kimmi and they accepted your application and updated (wrote on) your ARC then you are good go to and now officially work at your new school.
The process also severed ties to your old school/hagwan.
How can you stop the harassment = stop responding to it.
Ignore her. Your new boss will soon do the same.

Immigration no longer puts these things in your passport when you renew or transfer. As long as the changes were made by Immigration to the back of your ARC you are all set. |

Its hit & miss. Some offices do, some dont. Doesnt matter as long as your files & ARC are up to date. |
