I have one of the new F-6 visas and I have plans to leave the country for the whole summer. My old E-2 visa has a multiple entry stamp in my passport. Is this still valid? I was offered no multiple entry option when I applied for the new visa and was surprised to read about people with F-2's being charged 30k Won at the airport because they didn't have the stamp. Am I going to have to pay a hefty fee when I come back to the states if I don't make a trip to the Immi Office before I leave? I die a little every time I go to that place...

You no longer have to pay for a multi-entry stamp. Everyone automatically has one now (from the U.S. at least).

As long as you have a valid ARC you are free to leave and return during the validity of the ARC.

(the exception being f5s who have a limit of 2 years (continuous) outside of the country.

Awesome, thanks for the good info. What source do you guys use to get your "official" immigration info? I scour the immi website fairly regularly these days looking for rules and procedures and usually come up empty-handed.

Here are some related questions: My wife and I typically spend my vacations outside the country and it's likely that we will be gone next year when I need to renew my visa. Is there a limit to the amount of time I can spend outside of Korea? How long before the ARC expiration will they allow me to renew?

Thanks again.

You can renew up to 60 days prior to renewal.

After 2 years you should be looking at your F5 (permanent resident) rather than the F6.

Unrelated question ttompatz. When on a D10, must you stay in Korea or can you jaunt home for a quick visit in between contracts?

After you have your new ARC (D-10) you can leave and return the same as any other registered foreigner.
