Dear all.

I have come across a job advertisement for an "English Consultant/Writer" at Lourus Corp based in Hannam-dong, Seoul. The details for the job are not that descriptive as it only states they need a native English speaker with experience in consulting, research, and creative writing.

Now, has anyone worked for this company? I did some preliminary research, i.e. I checked out their website (www.lourus.com) but it all it states is they're an educational consultant. Additionally I found an older post on this forum (from 2008-09) from someone who worked at their hagwon. My understanding is that although they do have hagwons, the job I have seen is for their corporate office. I have also contacted their recruiter too to ask my info about the job.

If anyone has ever worked for this company then any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I've done some winter work there. I had mixed feelings. They used to, and may still, have foreigners running things there. It's cool in that you won't deal with language issues but the foreigners there are pretty hardcore. They do a lot of work, but they make decent coin. I met a person who came there after working at a typical hagwon and they were overwhelmed by the work required. I met her a few months later and he had adjusted and didn't mind it that much. The long and short of it is that you will be put to work, but you will be paid. You will be in a very professional environment and you will be held accountable.

I was there to teach the international students during vaction and it was a lot of work. But I was also paid very well there and now I look back on that place mostly neutrally. I don't think I would want to work there for a full year but that's because admin is so hands on.

Hey whiteshoes - thanks for your input. Quick question though - what type of work is it? Would it be teaching, writing materials or both? The actual "job responsibilities" are not present in the ad, so I haven't a clue as to what I'd be doing.

Thanks in advance.
