A Korean-American shot dead four people at a Korean spa outside Atlanta before turning the gun on himself in a grisly murder-suicide, AFP and Yonhap News reported Wednesday.

(WXIA-TV)

The Norcross Police Department said officers were called to the Su Jung Health Sauna at 8:41 p.m. Tuesday where they found three men and two women, all fatally wounded.

"Preliminary investigation revealed that an Asian male entered (the) business and shot four of the victims and then shot himself," it said in a statement.

Four were dead at the scene, and a fifth died after being taken to a local hospital, police said.

Yonhap news reported the gunman and the victims were Koreans

Police did not provide specific details about their identities or the gunman's motive.

They said they would provide an update on the case later on Wednesday.

From news reports..

why do they have to put AMERICAN in the title.
he is a korean, who killed other koreans in a Korean spa in USA.
why does the Korean media always have to try and say he was American .
will this get the news and coverage in korea if an American killed 5 people in seoul?

Are you acting dense on purpose?

The owner of the spa probably lived in the U.S. longer than you have. You don't have to be white to be an American.

From this report: http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/dpp/news/local_news/Norcross-Police-Probe-Deadly-Spa-Shooting-20120222-am-sd

Quote:
Four members of a family of Korean immigrants were shot and killed inside the spa they owned.... Friends told FOX 5 that the owner of the spa was a Korean immigrant who first moved to Atlanta in the mid-1980s and quickly became a fixture in a tightly knit community.... he was very involved in the Korean-American community

Why do they have to put KOREAN in the article.
He is an American who killed other Americans in a Korean-style spa in the USA.
Why does the American media always have to try and say he was Korean?

There's nothing wrong with mentioning that it was a Korean-American who killed fellow Korean-Americans at a Korean spa. It's of interest to Koreans because of their Korean background. As another poster said, you don't have to be of European, Caucasian background to be an American, even though that's often the perception in North America and in Asia.

We don't really know definitely if the fellow is a Korean-American or a Korean citizen. We just know someone of Korean extraction shot other people of Korean extraction.

He may or may not be dense, but at least he knows how to link to his news articles, madoka.

OP, Yonhap reported the Asian male shooter was 'Korean,' not 'Korean-American' as the koreaherald reported.

Fortunately given your reading comprehension and reasoning problems, I don't ever have to question whether you're dense or not. Laughing

Hmm... so I guess this applies to the "News" everywhere.
In Korea if a Korean-American does something negative they are an American and in America if they do something negative they are Korean.

Here's an American in Afghanistan. I think he's of Korean origin. Very Happy Very Happy

***See that look in his eye? He's definitely in the zone judging by his gaze. Definitely a natural born killer.
