Hi guys, have a bit of a problem here and was wondering if someone could help me here.
When I first came to Korea I worked in a hagwon for about six months. The school let me go after six months and gave me a Release Letter, which was only a copy of the original one but, which did not have a seal on it.
I have a accepted a position with a government-run private academy for June and I will be receiving payment on the EPIC scale. I can verify my 1.5 years of experience at my current school but, the new school will not accept a copy of my Release Letter from my first school because it does not have a seal on it.
I called me old recruiter and they told me that they do not have contact with that school anymore and that the school 'is crazy and no one remembers' me. Also they said that they changed directors.
I asked for the phone number and name of the new director in hopes that I can get a stamp from them.
Is there any other way that I can verify my employment, maybe from the pension office. I have been getting pension from that school for my first six months there.
Another option for me is to get a verification from my 'extra' teaching job in an institute that I have been doing here part time for six months. The school might not care but, immigration might.
Any advice?
Thank you in advance. |

Do you have your old bankbooks? Try the tax or pension offices, if taxes and pension were indeed paid. |

If you worked legally for them, then there should be something in your passport showing you have a visa at least. |

Something similar happened to me -- you can read advice and how I solved it here: http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=208441&highlight=
Ultimately it did not cause a problem, because I provided enough proof. Who knows why the school didn't want to verify my employment. |

Thanks for the help guys. I got in touch with the school, they replaced the crazy hag who was the old director and they told me that they would ask the new director for verification. Which I am happiest about.
If all fails, I can contact the provincial education office and ask them for a record of my employment. Since each hagwon must register their teachers.
And just in case this is not enough, I will get a record from the pension office to prove my employment there.
Thank you guys all so much for your help. |
