Just wondering if all the SK, LG etc. phones are locked to prevent users switching carriers
If they do come locked how can one unlock their phone?
I assume its illegal so would I need to make a trip to Yongsan?
Thanks! |

Your number is portable (you can take it with you when you switch carriers).
Your phone is not. Change carriers = change phones.

Unless you have an unlocked phone like a Galaxy or iPhone. Then you can change between tech-compatible carriers (like KT and SKT) |

Now that everyone is moving to sim card phones away from CDMA phones, it's much easier to switch your phone from one carrier to the next. If it's unlocked, then you simply buy the sim card from the other carrier for 4000w and you're good to go. |

if you have an iphone/galaxy the carriers will unlock the phone when your contract ends. finish your contract (or pay it out) and the carriers will unlock the phone. tell them you're going abroad and taking the phone. it takes a few days to go through the system, but it's a simple process. |

Has anyone went to Samsung to unlock their phone after the contract?
If so, was there a particular office in Seoul you had to visit? Was it free and how long did it take?
Thanks! |

I'm guessing you need a (Samsung) Anycall store-- I had to repair mine and that's where I went. A/S center is usually a floor or two above the showroom... |
