http://dokdotimes.blogspot.com/

Have you guys ever seen this blog? I just randomly discovered it, and I can't believe I've never heard of it. It's sort of like the Onion, if every article in the Onion was about Korea. Quite funny for anyone who has ever complained about something Koreans do/say/believe.

From the "About" page:

The Dokdo Times wrote:
Welcome to the new English-language version of The Dokdo Times. Founded in 1509, we are Dokdos oldest independent Korean-language newspaper. It is hoped that by translating our stories we will be able to properly inform foreigners about Korea's 5000 year-old civilization.

Our English-language website is best viewed on a Microsoft Windows-based PC using Internet Explorer 6 with ActiveX security disabled and your firewall turned off. Please ignore any warnings and enjoy our happy reading experience. Our Korean-language version is available via Daum for pure-blooded Koreans.

Maybe this site is well-known around here, but I'd never heard of it, and I think it's pretty hilarious.

Excellent. Smile

Perhaps someone could send a link over to the lads at Korean Sentry and see what they make of it? Wink

I enjoyed the link, thanks OP. Definitely similar to The Onion. My kind of humor.

Haven't read much of it, but two of my favorite bits so far are:

According to the Ministry of Really Korean Territories, Ieodo is not a submerged rock, but really is an island as proved by the name Ieo-do - "do" is the Korean word for island. "If Ieodo were not an island, why would we have called it Ieo Island?"

If Insa-dong plan is successful, officials are hoping to expand the ban on the sale of foreign goods to the rest of Seoul, which is also a tourist destination, and then the rest of Korea, in which tourists have been occasionally spotted and hunted for sport.

The Dokdo Times is an awesome read.

If you like that, check out the Yangpa. Its heyday was like five years ago but I see a new post by the main contributor. Hoping for more!

They need a T. Herman Zweibel-esqe Old Timey Korean figure to do some sort of editorial. Something where he complains about not being able to take the Turtle-Boat ferry anymore or something like "Hey I think there's the Japanese have been over here." type stuff.
