I need to know what Paju is like. I had a look on google.maps and I know it is the boonies. But is there a sense or sign of life for foreigners? Or is it best to avoid for work? I am looking in to the Geoynggi English Village, replies about the Village are welcome too. Deliberations for and against will help with decision making.

Hey Man,
I worked at the English Village there for a year and had a great time. Overall the experience was an excellent way to be introduced to working and teaching in Korea. The work was fun and easy, and the sense of community among the workers there was very strong.
Yes, it's kind of in the boonies, but I personally loved the countryside there. Also it has a very tight-knit group of foreigners living at the village, and quick busses into Ilsan and Seoul. Having a car there would also make things easier, but isn't totally necessary.
I should mention that all of this was in 2006. I haven't been back to the village since, and can't speak to the working/living conditions now, but can't imagine them to be too different.
Overall though it was a fantastic experience. |

| I saw the Youtube video, those guys are fly. But I was hoping to hear a bit more about the Village. I am going there to work, not party, and perhaps meet a woman. I hear Gumcheon (I know I have mis-spelt that) is where the Westerners hang out. I want to hear comments about Paju, I guess I willl have to wait. Thanks just the same. |

| the Si in paju-si is translated far too often as city, paju is not one city, its an administrative district that covers several medium towns such as Geumchon and munsan and a whole pile of small towns and villages, most public school teachers ten to get put into housing in geumchon regardless of where they work so we have a good expat scene here, people from the english village have got good transport links either to geumchon or ilsan (a much bigger, much nicer town) so dont worry too much about being isolated, from what i have heard in the past they are a pretty good bunch up there who will look after you when you arrive and after that you can branch out to some of the other towns around the place. |

You can do all three there successfully. I did.

To a certain extent yes. I thought Guemchon was kind of a old poophole. I went there with friends a few times for nights out, but Ilsan offers a lot more modern facilities. Seoul offers even more.

If you have questions about working at the English village, all you need to do is ask. |

Sometimes it's spelled with a G!
Sometimes it's spelled with a K!
Sometimes it's spelled with an E!
Sometimes the E goes away! |

| Learn the bus system and you can easily travel to Ilsan and Seoul. |
