'm selling my Scott Genius MC-40, full suspension trail bike. Lightest stock trail bike in its day in fact. The basic summary is that this bike is a tank.
Together with the custom welded aluminum alloy 6061 EVO 2 frame and 'switch on the fly' suspension controls, you basically don't need to do anything except flip your thumb to go from comfortable hard tail ride on the path, to 150mm suspended front and rear cushion for absorbing drops, stairs or steep mountain paths. Why this is good is because you get 100% transfer power to the rear wheel. Which means this can really dart past slow traffic and be quick when need be as well as doing extreme off road trails when you get the time to get out there.
Since the suspension is adjustable on the front fork as well as a lever on the handlebars, you can optimize the comfort of your ride without dismounting.
Most of the bike is stock (It is expensive new for a reason). Deore XT (second best level in MTB) components all around. Doesn't need to go into the shop often at all. Things stay in place and once you go to high quality components, you will never want to downgrade. Nothing needs to be replaced though. I stopped into into a great shop and saw the chain needed an upgrade soon and went ahead and did it. Tires show lots of tread still left. Wheels are true and don't need a tune up before setting out.
Upgraded: I've added a new saddle that I prefer (but I'll throw in the original and you can see which you prefer), Shimano PD-M520 Clip Pedals (45k), VD0 (German Cycling CPU, ~85k) and pump. (I'm going to throw the lights tool bag on my wife's bike).
The bike has never had any major crashes. I can remember toppling at low speed over just once actually. There are a few dings in the paint where I may have rested it upon something, but otherwise the frame has no cracks or dings. No problems with any of the components either. I just spent 40k on a Shimano XT chain, which is designed for the 9-speed sprocket. Also designed not to leave you broke down in the forest without a tool.
Firm for a bit on the price. . . may lower it down when I need more cash. But I'm not about to leave the country or anything. . .. Just this thing was made for the trails (or someone who is too lazy to stand up over on a pothole) and since I got married recently, I have not had as much time to seek out the trails for the entire day like I used to.
