Hey guys, got a grammar Q. I've learned a fair amount of grammar since I've been here, but still get thrown by questions regularly.
This sentence:
He begged for money to keep himself warm and fed, and he liked his carefree life.
In this sentence, is fed simple past or past participle? I'm pretty sure it's past participle, but it wouldn't be the first time I'd been wrong about a grammar Q.
Appreciate any insight! |

Hey Mike,
In this sentence, fed is an adjective.
When making verbs into adjectives we use either;
the present participle...'ing'
or the past participle.
These kinds of adjectives are called participial adjectives.
In your example then...as Edward has already stated...it is the past participle.
Hope this is useful.  |

Is this labeling for curiosity sake or do these things really come up on tests students (not the teachers) have to take? |
