|

Just had my med check done...at the end of it I had a short interview with the doctor asking about different medications or conditions that I may have. I've never routinely taken any meds for anything, but I forgot that I had taken a strong allergy med last week so I didn't mention it.
I remember others here talking about different meds causing false positives on the med test here (though I can't seem to find any of those threads now), so I was wondering if I'd be at risk of that same fate.

Don't worry about it, honestly. If you fail for anything, they'll tell you to retest.
Most pills are out of your system within a week, so if you think it's that, just lay off the pills before your retest. You have 90 days to take the test from the day you arrive, so you can push it back if you want (presuming your boss doesn't want to take you).
If you really want to fight it, then you can show them a prescription, but I doubt you'll have to. |

And I half ass read that, sorry. You should be fine. You'll get your results in about a week. |

You'll probably be fine. I took my test 2 weeks ago, and I had an upset stomach on the plane so I took some regular over the counter medicine for it on the same day I took my test. I didn't know it qualified as a drug, and as a result I failed the first test.
My school said I would have to take the test again, or if I refused to take it again I would have to leave. Since I'm still here it's obvious which one I did lol. The second test went fine.
If your going for a test, just don't take any medicine or anything in pill form for 72 hours and you should be fine ^_^. |

A recruiter I spoke with told me to take NOTHING for at least a week leading up to my flight and nothing during the plane ride (anxiety/sleep meds to pass the 14 hour flight). I don't know how accurate all of that is, but I guess just so I don't have to deal with the issues I won't be taking anything to ease my flying nerves. |

In the days prior to my medical test I took dramamine, imodium, and pepto bismol, and passed with flying colors. Dramamine is a thing of beauty on a 14 hour plane ride. Not only does it basically guarantee no airsickness (or reaction to another passenger's airsickness, which was my bigger concern) but also, being a sedative, knocks me right out. It's fantastic and seemingly test-safe.
To cover myself... YMMV I guess? But then sometimes people fail urine drug tests due to compounds their bodies produce naturally, so it'd be hard to know for sure. |
