I was skyping with a recruiter who informed me that his clients have been successful by getting a FBI check through a channeler in 1-2 weeks and then getting it apostilled at a state's capital who does it (mine does). D.C. won't apostille that but a state will.

I know that it is kind of sketchy but what's the harm in trying it? No one has gotten rejected for state apostilles yet. Even if it fails, I still have my real one that is 3 weeks in so there is really no harm in trying. I can't believe I didn't think of this before.

What do you all think?

It works until Kimmi closes the loophole.

The only catch is cost.

I can afford $40 to get me a job.

I'm currently in a situation where a principal of a reputable elementary school (not hagwon) in a good area of Seoul wants to hire me but can't until I get my FBI check. The pay is high and the vacation is long. This would solve that problem.

Yes, you can get an electronic copy of your FBI background check through a channeler. You can print it out and have an affidavit notarized which swears the check is authentic. You can then get an apostille from your state which verifies the qualifications of the notary. However, someone already tried it that way and their background check was rejected in the end-

Did you even bother to read the thread ghostrider gave you? A 6 page misadventure that died last September.

And have you also noticed that the "States that apostlille FBI CBCs" thread is no longer on the first page of this forum?

Things to think about...

Can't hurt to try, its a won win situation. If it works problem solved, if it doesn't you are no worse off than you were before....

Exactly. Plus, there ARE stories of it working for people. So why not at least try? A $58 gamble isn't a big deal if it could possibly help me get a job faster. My CBC is already 3 weeks in so even if it doesn't work I still have the real deal coming in.

Of course I did. Twice. Why do you have to have such a smart-ass attitude?

I don't have a smart assed attitude, but I am wondering what use there is in exploiting a loophole and talking about it on this board. The Korean government has specified that it wants the DOS apostille on the FBI check. How are you contributing to this forum or complying with the Korean's requirement with this post and your rationalization of what you are trying to do?

Uh...
Because I didn't know of that thread's existence before I made this one?
