I was offered a job in Jungae-Dong. They tell me it's near a mountain. I can't seem to find it on the map. I want to be well within city limits of Seoul, somewhere busy, not in the middle of nowhere.
Can anybody give me an idea where Jungae-dong is? And what is it like there? |

Junggye-dong is one of those high-rise neighborhoods with a lot of hagwons (so lots of other foreigners)
It's clean and fairly quiet compared to other parts of Seoul. I enjoyed my year living there. |

I live there now. It's alright. There is a hikable mountain literally about 5 minutes walk away from where you'll probably be working. Here's a quick rundown of the neighborhood highlights.
McDonalds
KFC
Lotteria
Literal fucktons of kimbap joints
Bagel Street Bagel Shop (this is excellent)
Sandpresso Sandwich shop
Subway
Pizza Hut
Outback Steakhouse
Loads of bars.
Dunkin' Donuts also.
It's not a bad area, a bit on the quiet side (for Seoul.) |
