|
|
Well, my days in Seoul are likely drawing to a close, so I have been trying to go out and try some of the restaurants that I haven't been to yet. A few of the places in the Gangnam Station area that I have enjoyed (or at least tolerated) have been Pasha, W Burger, Tomatillo, Oktoberfest, Raw, Whiskey Weasel, and that one good Japanese place...I don't remember what it's called.
There's some burger place in the basement of a building near Kyobo tower, next to a taco place (a Dos Tacos, maybe?) that I want to try. Anybody know the place I'm talking about? Is it any good?
Besides the places I listed, where do you like to eat in this area? I'm not interested in Korean or Chinese food, unless maybe it's something more unique than your standard Korean barbecue hole or JJajungmyeon jjoint. Anything from fast food to fine dining--I'm just looking to try something new. |

i live very close to that dos tacos and have been numerous times. it's not even close to being good mexican food but it hits the spot when you need it to.
and for reference, i'm not comparing it to american mexican food, but to mexican food inside the borders of mexico so it's a bit of an unfair comparison.
give it a try though, the portion sizes are good. |

| I don't have a favorite place for anything in Kangnam. In actuality, I avoid the entire area to the best of my abilities. |

How does it compare to Tomatillo? I like their tacos, but they cost too much. I love 'authentic' Mexican, too, but I don't poo-poo imitation stuff if it's good. Food doesn't have to be made in exactly the same way as it is in the place where it originated to be good. |

They are very different. I don't consider Dos Tacos to be Mexican food at all. It's just good food. The food doesn't really share flavor profiles with any Mexican food you may have had in the past. For example, they put black olives in the burritos. I may not miss much about food in Korea, but I do think I'll miss Dos Tacos. |

tomatillo tastes much more authentic, although it's still a far cry too. as bloopity said, dos tacos is not bad tasting and has it's own unique thing going on, but it's surely not going to be mistaken for anything south of the border. |

Thank you! Been dying for a decent steak and looks like this might even be more than decent.
Let's keep this thread going, guys! I think I'm pretty knowledgeable about restaurants in Seoul, but not so much around Gangnam/Apgu/baller areas.
Edit:
Actually found this (horribly formatted) article. Anyone been to any of these other ones? And is there any weight to the theory posed by the Butcher by Isabelle's chef that the imported USDA prime beef served at Goo STK is inferior to his restaurant's hanwoo because the former was imported wet?

sounds like a disrespectful attack on a follower restauarantuer , GOO is the number 1 steak house in town, so issabella the butcher wants to be what Gu is, but its very un gentleman like to sabotage other players in the game.
I think Issabella is owned by the same owner of smokey salon.
and attacking others in the open media just shows your desperation.
they just lost respect in my book
anyway what he is saying is BS. |
