I've seen people flying RC planes on Daechon Beach, not sure about in Seoul though.

I've seen a lot in Seongnam. I've thought about getting into it but don't know where to start. Is it hard to fly? I don't wanna shell out good money only to crash my plane in a smithereens.

Not difficult if you buy a decent trainer aircraft and have someone to help you/or use a simulator. I get my stuff from hobby king in hong kong. Works out way cheaper than buying locally and takes about 2 weeks to get here with delivery to my doorstep. i finally built up the plane now i want to go test it out, there is an official flying field along the han river. Will prob go there on the weekends, but would like to find a place here near incheon for the weekdays.

I see people flying the smaller helicopters near the river. You could build a plane with pontoons and fly it out over the river. That way you'd have less chance of wrecking it.

Just search the web for "RC flight simulators" - trust me it's worth the money - and feels almost exact to when you get out there with the real thing. They have many of the 'real' heli's and planes that are on the market as well from various online hobby stores. The simulators are usually just designed for a PC with a decent video card. The ones that claim they are "MAC compatible" basically just means you have to install windows on your Mac... lol
