If this has been started then I apologize.

Kind of a bland movie without giving away too many spoilers.

Some of the events in the storyline were ludacris or had holes.

The weather conditions in the hunt weren't that extreme due to the actor's safety in mind but I didn't read the original book to compare it to.

What's the big deal about this flick?

The two young leads are good and many of Hutcherson's others movies are pretty good. I definitely see where Harrelson is going with his career.

Most hyped of movie of all time.

I've never read the books. What's all the hoopla about?

I haven't seen a series this hyped up since Harry Potter.

Great movie. Great one liners in there.

While Collins has mentioned being inspired by Greek myths, the Iraq War and Survivor, the one she refuses to admit to is Battle Royale.

Read the original books before you go criticizing the movies. I'd imagine that it's much harder to make a movie that's based on a book than making one from scratch (at least in terms of detail and playing by the rules...granted not all areas are as difficult--but hell, I haven't made a movie).

I also thought it was impossible to make Da Vinci Code into a movie after having read the book. So I'm not so mean when it comes to criticizing the movie. It was a futile attempt to begin with.

There's nothing so big about the movie, but the books have been judged as the next Twilight Series of sorts for young readers. So that's what all the hoopla is about and thus the relatively high premier screening figures.

The next Twilight Series... is that a good thing?

I had a different impression of the book. It had soon-to-be-a-popcorn-movie written all over it, from the cliched characters to the plot twists that were clearly advertised several before they occurred. A very predictable but yet entertaining read, albeit not a very intellectually stimulating one...Pure paperback escapism, in other words.

Initially, I thought it would make the skeleton for a good movie. But I changed my mind when I thought about the many historical flashbacks, that are somewhat dry and lecture-oriented, but definitely essential to understanding the book. Such flashbacks and lectures in a movie would have made it entirely too long and dry for a single flick, so after some thought I reneged on the idea and thought it impossible.

In many ways, I think I'm still right. The movie is quite different from the book (substantially would be an understatement) and the movie (aside from the initial hype and opening figures) was an artist flop.

When the credits ran...I couldn't help but laugh at how similar I felt when Stewie Griffin got in his jet to personally slap a director for having made a bad movie. Wink

An obvious ripoff of Battle Royale to the core. I'm not saying this as a huge fan of the book Battle Royale, but I just think it's impossible that somewhere, someone along the line never said "Hey, you know, this seems to be a lot like this one book called Battle Royale..." and then the author just gave up once she read it. This movie reeks of, dare I say it, Korean-level copyright infringement. It's almost a direct lift with a few of the names and places changed.

I read the first book, but couldn't be bothered with the sequels. I imagine if I was 12 I would have thought it the best book ever, but as an adult I felt that the book focused on the action a little too much, and slightly neglected the character development.
The comparisons with The Running Man and Battle Royale have been plastered all over the internet. One reviewer called the Hunger Games, "Running Man for the Justin Bieber Generation".

I kept hearing references to this book and did a little reading up about it. And, I mean a very little reading up about it. When I read the first line of wikipedia stating, "The Hunger Games is a young adult novel written by American television writer and novelist Suzanne Collins;" then clicked on the link defining "young adults," which classified individuals ranging between approximately 12-14, I was pretty much finished. I don't think I'll ever understand why adults read children's books.

Or complain about the quality of the books/movies.
