So this weekend i went to check out the new western pub in Gangnam the Whiskey Weasel. Was a little difficult to find but once i found it i was happy i did. seems they didnt cut corners on the place. the owners said a few decorations still need to jukebox go up but it look pretty nice. i tried their nachos and wings and i thought they were both excellent. real buffalo wing flavor and salsa was homemade. my criticism might be the music on the jukebox was limited but i guess its new so the can add more. I have thought about opening a place myself so i am very curious to see how this place does in Gangnam
anyway, i thought it was great overall. anyone else check it out yet? |

They have an original location in Ilsan that I think is almost the same. I've never been there, but I think it's pretty popular among both expats and Koreans in the area.
I checked out the new location early on Sunday evening before anyone else was there. It's a nice place, and the owner seems like a cool guy. He said they are really trying to make a Western-style sports bar and that they hope to become known for their food. The menu looked all right: decent prices, good-looking burgers. I tried the hot wings. The sauce was great, but the wings were super small, just like most places in Korea. It was 8,000 for 10 wings. They've got a wing night (500 a wing) on Tuesday and some other special nights too. They have Alley Kat on tap (6,000) as well as a couple other decent beers.
The guy also said they are going to purchase an NFL package and show football games on delay in football season. That should be pretty cool; I don't think there are currently any places showing American football in Gangnam.
I'll probably be back in there occasionally to sample the rest of the menu. |

He told me they'd be showing the NHL playoffs too. |

Anyone got more details on the price of drinks?
I've been asking a few friends to go but all of them are hesitant because they think it will be "expensive" and would rather go to Sinchon or Itaewon.
I know in the previous post the alleykat is 6, but how much for 500ml of Cass, a guiness, a Heineken, etc..?
How much for a highball? Vodka tonic? Jack and Coke? |

If an Alleykat is 6 then I'd think rum and cokes, g&ts, etc. will also be around 5 to 6. Guinness would probably be about 8. Just an estimated guess, though.
Cass, though. Really? Cass is one 'c' too many. |

No argument from me about that. But Cass is a good measure of how expensive a place is. They SHOULD be about 3000won for 500ml. Any place that charges more than that is clearly ripping off their customers. |

cass 3000
House drinks 5000
Jack daniels 6000
Jamesons 5000
Guiness 9000
Cocktails 7000
There prices are almost identical to beeroclock in sinchon
and the food was definitly on par with other western bars in itaewon or better
personally i can vouch for the burgers and nachos being top notch |

They have a map on their Facebook page.
Go check it out, I live in ilsan and their location there is a great spot. Good drinks, great pub food (nachos are great, wings taste like real buffalo style).
But as a foreigner the best part about the weasel is the guys who run it....super nice, they'll always put on a game you want to watch, they make it feel like a bar back home.
Some friends and I went to the gangnam location and the place has at least one improvement over ilsan, those huge hoeggarden draughts!

Went, didn't like it. Too much like a standard Itaewon spot just plopped in Gangnam. A little slummy, even. Customers seemed to stick to the cheap stuff, too, which doesn't bode well in light of astronomical Gangnam rents. |

Calling it slummy means you have a bone to pick with the owners, or you are just a bitter complainer. You could hack on the food, drink selection or even the music, but to call that place slummy is moronic. It was almost too unbroken in by pub standards. Woodstock is slummy. And what is wrong with an iteawon bar dropped in gangnam? Isn't that the point? |

They have dartboards. When I was there last week, they let me play as much darts as I wanted for free, because someone had drunkenly put way too much money in the machine the night before. |

Ah, I guess they are the electronic boards. They should put up a few REAL dartboards. |

I have no knowledge of the owners and I'm not the least bit bitter. I'm a pretty happy guy, actually. Just didn't like the place.

Well, Itaewon is close enough that I'd go there if I wanted that. I was hoping the bar would fit the locale a bit--a more upscale foreign-owned bar in Gangnam would be nice. De gustibus non est disputandum & whatnot, though. |
