Anyone try using a blog for teaching adult conversation classes, example, posting class topics and discussion questions on-line in advance of class, allowing for student comments, etc.?

Yeah, I have done it in the past. I actually used an old style (free) web page service a few years ago, I would use a blog if I did it today.

I would post links to source material that I discussed in class, videos that would expand on something we talked about in class and links to materiel that I would be using in future classes. If there where words or phrases students seemed to repeatedly have trouble with, I would make a short YouTube video of me modeling how to pronounce words or phrases for students to view to refresh their memory at a later date. I would "publish" movie reviews students wrote about short films we viewed in class just to give the project some kind of gravatas that others in the world might see it.

I am not sure how this translated to actual useful learning but the students really seemed to appreciate that I did it, so I earned a lot of brownie points for the effort.
