There's been more and more news recently about issues with North and South Korea. The link for the latest news, "North Korea issues unusually specific threat," is below. Last year I was living in China, and I was concerned about the conflict in December 2010 involving live fire drills and whether China would get involved in the dispute.

Anyway, my main question is, do you feel safe living in Korea? Are you concerned about the situation between North and South? I thought about posting this in the Current Events forum but it's more of a question about the general atmosphere than anything specific. I have been thinking about pursuing a teaching job there next year (starting next spring) so it's been something I've been wondering about.

Thanks.

Seriously? Again? Will this question never end? What is more specific about that threat than all the other threats to shell Seoul? Do you feel that the situation has deteriorated due to their having once again failed in their attempt to get a missile out of their own airspace?

Sorry, if there is a forum on it, I would be happy to see it. I searched and didn't find much, even though I figured it would have been asked already.

No one is concerned.

I'm not sure how this is really any different. Remember last year when they sunk a ROK Navy ship and shelled an island with civilians? No escalation then.

If you do decide to come here, you'll see how little the locals care about North Korea's theatrics. I just hope I don't get called back for reserve training.
