I'm thinking of taking a public school job in Icheon, the ceramic city an hour Southeast of Seoul. Not to be confused with Incheon. Is it possible to have a social life there? |

Been there.
there are lots of people there, actually.
Kinda like a magnet for the local farmers with nowhere else to go.
Also, unlike other parts of Gyeonggi-do it doesn't feel like a suberb of Seoul, a.k.a. the same as Seoul.
You are in the Korean countryside so there are more foreigners from SE Asia than white foreigners. Most foreigners in Seoul are English teachers but in the countryside the immigrants are married-and-moved-in or factory workers. That's a whole different life out there.
It will be a great opportunity to practice your Korean and people will be more friendly than in Seoul. However, if you are more interested i Itaewon-style fun you may not like it. |
