I finally got a smart phone and just added data to my monthly service. My service is LG U+.
They give 1 GB a month for 10,000 won.
Then it got confusing. The LG phone representative spoke perfect English, but it was still confusing.
She told me that I could use the 1 GB for surfing the web, but if I did downloading, it costs extra.
So I asked about if I get an email with a photo attached, (or some other attachment) will it be free (within the 1 GB limit) or will the attachment cost extra to download.
She said it depends on what is attached and the phone will tell me if it costs more to download.
I asked about using the phone to tether with my laptop, is that OK with my data usage? She said I can tether, but if I download, that costs extra.
I am concerned because I am taking online classes, and sometimes I have to download or upload pdf files. Or sometimes someone sends me photos attached to Whatsapp messages.
It was confusing because she could not tell me what files I can download for free (within the 1 GB) and what kind of files I have to pay extra for.
Maybe when she says "pay extra for download" she is talking about some kind of "pay per view" sites or something?
Has anyone had to pay extra for "downloading" with your LG U+ data plan? What kind of files did you have to pay extra for? Did the phone notify you before a file requiring payment was downloaded?
