Wow...could you be less specific?

Need more info, please. Is the webcam in the "my computer" window? What says "webcam not connected"? What software do you use? Where was your computer...being fixed?

Help us help you. Specifics are good.

I would really love to help you, but you need to type more than 3 sentences.

Did you do a "Windows Update" with the webcam plugged in?

It's a USB cam, yes? Can you see the device listed in your "My Computer" window when you open it?

If yes, then click the camera. Does a window open with the camera view in it?

If not....

Go to "Control panel", then "System" then "Hardware", then "Device Manager" then "Imaging Devices"...is your camera listed there?

If yes, then re-install some of your software. Could be a million things, but try that first. Uninstall, reboot, then re-install.

If no, then windows isn't recognizing that there is anything there. Are the USB ports functional? Camera is ok?

Maybe drivers.

Find the type of camera you have and type that name plus "driver download" into Google.

Download the driver files to your computer and either click the files' "exe." or if it is not an execute file (only the driver with no installer), then you must go to the "control panel" and click "add new hardware".

Follow the prompts and help windows find the file you downloaded.

Now...

Go to "Control panel" again, then "System" then "Hardware", then "Device Manager" then "Imaging Devices"...can you see your camera listed there now? If not, click "Scan for new hardware".

Well, there are other things, but this is the most basic route for troubleshooting from here with the scant information you provided.

Hope it helps.

He's right You need to re-install your webcam driver. It should have come with the webcam (check for a cd or something)

If it didn't and you are using windows xp it should install it automatically.

They probably formatted your computer...did you get a virus? It just means re-installing and downloading all the stuff you had on it before no biggy just time consuming
