Hi everybody,

I arrived in Seoul about two and a half month ago on an F4 visa (for vacationing and etc) without a Canadian CRC and apostilled degree. I am thinking of teaching for awhile. I have searched the board and read many posts, but I still have some questions to clarify.

Regarding the CRC:

1) Does it still take 4 months to get the RCMP Canadian CRC from within Korea?

I am wondering if the processing time has changed recently (now that the changes to the requirement policy have been in effect for some time). Has anyone filed and got one recently?

2) Is it possible to do the RCMP CRC via a family member in Canada by writing an authorization letter?

3) Is it really only 7 days if I get it done in person at a RCMP station? (My local one in Canada is a RCMP one.)

Regarding the apostilled degree:

4) If I want to have my degree apostilled via a family member in Canada, can I just send them a photocopy (or a scan) or do I have to send the original?

5) Do I need to get several copies of my degree certified if I want to have the option of changing my job? Or can I just make copies of the ceritified copy and give them to hagwons/PS?

Regarding the airplane ticket:

I am contemplating flying back to Canada to get the required documents ready.
But it would cost me $1200 for a round trip which is probably the biggest reason why I am spending so much time reading and writing about this.

6) I know that you can get your plane ticket reimbursed/covered by the hagwon. However, isn't there usually a condition for it like a fixed contract/term? I am currently on an F4, and I don't want to be tied to a long term (more than 4-6 months) contract.

Thanks in advance.

to do everything from here,

CRC,

go to the Canadian embassy in Seoul, get the form,
go to a police office and get your finger printed
fill the rest of the form and send it home to your parents,

your parents will mail the form to the RCMP,
it could take up to 12 weeks,
they will mail it back to your parents,
then your parent will mail it back to you

apostilled/notarized degree,

I guess your parents will be doing this for you back home?
what they need:
1. original diploma
2. photocopy(ies) of diploma

they need to go to a notary public, get it notarized ... they will notarized the photocopy, so yes, I suppose showing them the original helps

if you really do want to teach here, best bet is to land a job first, then work with the school on how you go about getting your E2 visa,

here's the link for the requirement,
http://www.koreanconsulate.on.ca/en/?b_id=77&c_id=343&mnu=a02b03&start=1

if this will be your first time teaching and you will be here for the whole process, not sure how you would go around required item number 3,
3. Original and a photocopy of passport (remaining validity of at least 1 year)

I suppose you could call them and find out
